What are we doing to our children?!!!?
Our children need a watch to tell them what time it is to go for a pee. What happens to learning and understanding how your body works.
I can see kids still going to school with these on…what about adults.
Stuck to a watch telling you your every move…eat, sleep and pee.

I remember being so stuck to a watch.
I was self employed and I lived in 15min blocks.
My friends broke me out of work for a week long hike around some lovely lakes.
The deal was I had to leave my watch behind (I was a work-a-holic who had not had a break in years – this is also where I meet my lovely husband…just imagin if I’d not had time to go for that walk).
On my first day walking I kept asking what the time was and no one knew.
Finally one friend said after me absently asking for the time again “Megan what time would you like it to be?”
From that day on I’ve tried to do things when they needed to be and this was my beginning to live life a little less stressful…its still taken me all the years till now to really understand…how stressful life like that can be.

Again I come to my tango with Tizzie Hall and her Clock watching schedules and how they really just don’t work for humans…droids and commuters yes…but not someone with body functions.

I’ve just been laughing to myself over the past few days…I really am my parents child.

Dad - a psychologist in New Zealand for over 20 years.  Worked in prisons, probation offices, addiction treatment agencies and anger management/stopping violence programmes.  Now days, semi-retired and work part time for a busy community mental healthservice dealing with the problems of depression, anxiety, trauma, the effects of abuse, grief, head injury, drugs and alcohol, self harm, stress and lots more.

Mum – Programme Co-ordinator for the Diploma in Violence and Trauma Studies.  Now retired and just teaches the one paper – Critical Issues in Violence Studies – in the programme.
Became interested in family violence while working as a probation officer and then later as a Family Court counselling co-ordinator. During that time she worked with a number of community groups including women’s refuge and men’s stopping violence programme providers. She has research interests in family violence and also the impact on students of education about violence and trauma.

While I started out reading on how to get my child to sleep I’ve found out that there is MUCH MUCH more to this issue that what we believe.
We have issues problems with in our lives which we are just sweeping aside…we as a society are not looking deeper we are not questioning why people tick the way they do.

WE NEED TO LOOK WE NEED TO LEARN WE NEED TO QUESTION

I followed this link to see what it was all about.

I have to laugh. Ara sleeps with us sometimes in our bed and sometimes in her own cot which is beside our bed. Since Ara’s bottom molar teeth came through I think about 2-3 months ago Ara has been sleeping through the night and before that she would wake once or twice for a few minutes.

I feel that I’ve done really well…or should I say that Ara has done really well. We don’t feel that Ara sleeping in our room or bed is a problem as she seems to be taking things at her own pace….but the site above recommended that we try and change this.

Over all Ara’s score came out really tops apart from the day time nap as she sleeps 1.5hrs…but I supose thats what some Highneed babys can ge away with.
